The southeast Michigan area has some great movie theaters that will be playing classic holiday flicks throughout the season. Here are four to check out to get your holiday movie fix.
The Michigan Theater is always a great place to catch some indie movies and attend classic screenings, with this upcoming holiday season being no different. This year’s Holiday Classic Film Series will take place every Sunday afternoon through December 18. The theater will show Elf on December 4, Prancer (1989) on December 11, and It’s A Wonderful Life on December 18. Admission is free for all screenings.
The historic Penn Theatre in Plymouth will be showing classic holiday movies throughout the month of December. It starts with It’s A Wonderful Life on the weekend of December 2, White Christmas on December 9 and 10, The Polar Express on December 10 and 11, Elf on the weekend of December 16, and Christmas Vacation December 22 and 23. All tickets are $3 and there are multiple showings for each movie, so be sure to check the schedule.
The Landmark Main Art Theatre in downtown Royal Oak always plays special movies and the latest buzzworthy indie films, but they will also be getting in the holiday cheer with some outside the box holiday movie screenings. They will show American Psycho (which is set during Christmas) on December 2 and 3, Gremlins on December 16 and 17, and Edward Scissorhands on December 23.
